Job Description
Nature of Work:
Under general supervision, performs full-performance level work preparing, cooking, and baking food items in the Lakeview Dining Hall at Cedar Lakes Conference Center. May select or vary methods based on client dietary needs. Also responsible for serving meals, cleaning of kitchen and dining room areas, and assisting with the training and education of temporary staff as needed. Responsible for maintaining all health and food safety standards and certifications as required by state law.
Examples of Work:
Frequently bend, squat, stand, sit, climb, kneel, reach above shoulder level, push/pull and/or walk for extended periods. Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds. Works with hot materials and sharp objects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: One-year of full-time paid employment as a Cook in a high-volume kitchen preferred.
Substitutions: N/A
Licenses/
Certification: Serve Safe Certification preferred.

- Participate in all aspects of food preparation set-up, service, and clean-up of the kitchen and dining hall.
- Follow recipes to prepare food that is pleasing in both appearance and taste.
- Organize, prepare and serve meals at assigned workstations.
- Ensure that sanitary food handling practices are maintained at all times.
- Ensure that food items are stored at appropriate temperatures.
- Maintain kitchen sanitation and ensure that safety standards are met.
- Ensure compliance with state, local, and regulatory requirements as it relates to food service, and health.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of proper food handling procedures.
- Skilled in the use of industrial food preparation equipment.
- Ability to read and follow standardized recipes.
- Ability to prepare food for multiple daily dining schedules, (breakfast, lunch, dinner) for large groups.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to breakdown or multiply recipes according to group size.
- Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: One-year of full-time paid employment as a Cook in a high-volume kitchen preferred.
